Blade Runner (1981) took place in the Los Angeles of the then-far-faraway future of 2019. Simple math dictates that 30 years have passed in the BR universe between its first feature film Blade Runner (1981) and its sequel Blade Runner 2049 (2017). As the known world vanishes while civilization collapses, much has taken place over those three decades. Some events are described through this three official short prequels.
Blade Runner Black Out 2022
"The Blackout," electromagnetic pulse attack destroyed almost all technology. Directed by respected Japanese animator Shinichiro Watanabe with original music by Flying Lotus as well and a reprisal of the role of the police officer by Edward James Olmos.
2036: Nexus Dawn
Niander Wallace (Jared Leto) demonstrates a new kind of replicant, who will absolutely obey the orders from human and never run. But the lawmaker (Benedict Wong) does not seem to believe in him. The short should show how the lawmaker changes his attitude and maybe include a possible discussion among the magistrates.
2048: Nowhere to Run
Life on Earth has reached its limit and society divides between replicant and human. Wallace rose to prominence on his company's solution to global food shortages, submitting for approval his latest replicant, the Nexus 9. This film introduces a new and imposing replicant character by the name of Sapper Morton, a replicant that unleashes his true power when he sees his loved ones in trouble.
